A Stranger in A Foreign Country

Once a year for the past three years or so we have had an unusual visitor. I think that he is some sort of heron and he is beautiful. Wikipedia says ,"they can be found in a range of habitats; in fresh and saltwater marshes, mangrove swamps, lake edges or shorelines." I usually associate these birds with coastal areas. What makes him such an unusual visitor is that we live on a lake smack dab in the middle of the North Georgia Mountains!

The first thought that came to my mind when I saw him land in the water's edge was Abraham. "Like a stranger in a foreign country;" (Hebrews 11:9). Unlike Abraham, he didn't make his home here. He was just stopping off for a short time on the way to his final destination.

As a Christian, I feel more and more like a stranger in a foreign country. It seems as if each passing day brings us more change and not for the better. The traditional family structure is eroding. Parents murder their babies. Children murder their parents. To a large part of the population, morals are unnecessary. But this is not our promised land. We are just stopping off here for a time until Jesus calls us to our final destination.

Life is Good,

Cindy

The older I grow and the more wicked this world grows, I understand why my grandmother used to say, "I can't wait to get to heaven". Come Lord Jesus!!

Yes. I don't want to waste the time He has given me here on earth - don't want to miss the opportunity to serve him here. BUT, I am eager to find my real home!
